Rieffel

Alsace, France

Lucas Rieffel represents the third generation of winemakers in his family's estate, situated in Mittlebergheim, Alsace. The Rieffel family has a long history in Mittlebergheim, with their house and building dating back to the 15th century. In 1946, Lucas's grandfather, Julien, began selling bottles of Sylvaner. His father, André, took the helm in 1971 with a vision to expand the domain and enhance the quality of the wines. In 1996, Lucas assumed the reins of the family estate and has been guiding it into the future ever since. Lucas's winemaking approach is heavily influenced by his close collaboration with André Ostertag and Patrick Meyer, who are located in the nearby villages of Epfig and Nothalten. Ostertag can be considered a pioneer of the new wave in Alsace. Rieffel’s ‘Pinot Noir’ is balanced and fruit-forward. This wine will make you feel like you are singing ‘The Hills Are Alive’ with your hair in the wind and a basket full of raspberries.
